This beautiful small tree comes to us from southern Europe and western Asia, and is a valuable addition to any garden. Clusters of tiny bright yellow flowers burst forth in late winter to early spring from naked branches. This cheerful early display eventually produces an abundant crop of attractive cherry-like red fruit, that can be used for preserves, or left for the birds to enjoy. Exfoliating bark completes the picture in winter. Winner of the Cary Award for Outstanding Plants for New England Gardens, and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Gold Medal
